Nightlord40k inspired me. This was my grandpa's gun. Passed down to my dad and now me. I was hell bent on sending it off to get refinished. Now I'm on the fence. However, this is a gun that will never ever leave. What say you? Would be nice to see it in its former glory. 20220210_203632.jpg 20220210_203653.jpg 20220210_203659.jpg 20220210_203707.jpg 20220210_203714.jpg 20220210_203727.jpg 20220210_203737.jpg 20220210_203838.jpg

Part of the "leave it alone" view for me is it was your grandfathers and fathers rifle. If it was just some broken beater you picked up somewhere with no attatchment it would not be as bad. Being a generational rifle thats gone man to man its something I wouldnt mess with other than maintinance and repair. Its pretty nice looking as is. The blueing is worn sure but older firearms still look good with a little wear. Newer stuff thats painted with synthetic stocks not so much.

I think you will eventually have regrets if you start messing with it. Better time would probably be spent working on making a son to hand it off eventually. I wish I had something like that from my dad (let alone grandfather) to give my sons. I could not even get an old pocket knife when Grandpa died HaHa. Had to sneak to the barn and grab a couple rusty old tools.

Is this an heirloom that you shoot?

If it is never going to leave the family and it will enhance its useability, I say fine go ahead. Just restore it to the way it was when new. All those saying don't touch it need to go to Turnbull's website and look at the works of restoration art they create. Afterall, if you bought a classic sports car that needed work, I doubt anybody here would say "don't touch it". It would get restored and repainted as needed and loved afterwards.

I have shot it. The bore is pristine. Value means nothing. As I stated , it will never leave.

Spray paint it camo and add a mlok rail ;)

Joking…

don’t change a thing. It’s beautiful like that. If anything keep it oiled to prevent rust.
