I finally got around to refinishing my CZ82. It was a bit beat up, as you would expect for a used milsurp pistol. So here's what I did:
1) I put Beretta 92 baseplates on the mags so that the grip would fit my hand better. They slide right on with no modification.
2) I sprayed PlastiDip on the grips. I dislike plastic grips and I am not really a fan of wood. But until the fine folks at Hogue start listening to my requests (!!!!), this will have to do. I see some areas peeling, so I may end up buying some wood grips down the line.
3) I used Brownell's Oxpho-Blue. Apparently this stuff is kind of a hybrid parkerizing/bluing formula. In the right light it is dark blue/black, but is otherwise kind of a dark metallic charcoal.
The gun shoots like a dream, and its trigger is beyond butter smooth. Now IMHO, its finish is up to par with its performance.
