Reliability: Ruger LCP vs S&W Bodyguard

I have owned both. I sold the LCP and bought a BG380, and miss the LCP sometimes.

The LCP was totally reliable, which seems to be the general consensus.

The BG is good, but had a few reliability problems that a trip back to S&W hopefully fixed. This also seems to be the general consensus. Although a lot of BG owners report zero problems.

It is probably my imagination, but the LCP seemed more accurate. But I was shooting it on a different range at a different distance than the BG.

I never really paid a lot of attention to triggers before, but the BG does seem to be a bit harsh and heavy.

FWIW

My LCP has been pretty reliable. I can't speak for the BG. However, I have noticed that (especially with JHP ammo), the LCP can hang for a split second while feeding the round from the magazine. I think this may be simply due to how light the slide is. It's never failed to feed, but that slight hiccup is a potential issue.

That said, my 2 primary carry guns are Ruger pocket pistols, an LCP and an LCR.
