Got a older stripped lower receiver laying around and decided to build an ar-15. I just want to build something durable. Doesn’t need any bells or whistles just want something that will go bang every time I pull the trigger and parts that will last a long time.

Any Lower part kits out there you guys recommend? Any uppers that you recommend that will last a long time? Like I said doesn’t need 5 rails or fancy things on it.

thanks so much!

I recently sold a rifle with an Anderson LPK in it that had over 3000 rds through it. Pulled the LPK and swapped to a fresh lower and kept my 80%. There was wear on the parts but it was all cosmetic.

I prefer CMMG as well. Great no frills LPK! Seekins is another I have liked.

Yes, way back, when their ads were in Shotgun news. Usually had one or two bad parts in a kit.
yes, I should have implied that, the post looks incomplete without it. As cenetart21 points out M&A had a questionable reputation back then. That said, even an M&A kit from then holds up. Mine worked fine, but wear on these is no better or worse than any other AR. Around 30,000 rounds on the fire control group if, about 20-25K in 223, and another 5-10K in .22lr.
If you want a really good trigger really cheap, the Joe Bob adjuster will make a universal FCG trigger into 3-4lbs, with about 2/100" creep. Not sure its drop safe after that, but the safety still works.

I always buy my parts kits without the fire-control. All of my AR but one have a two-stage triggers of one type or another I am not a fan of the cheap Mil-spec style single that comes with most parts kits.

I have used DPMS, Bushmaster and PSA parts kits and had good results with all. As for lower kits, except for fire-controls, parts are parts.

I've built a couple using the Anderson stainless kit and have been pleased, I replace the springs with lower ones, drill the lower for a set screw to remove slack (you have to grind a little bit on the rear of the trigger to clear the safety) and I like the anti-walk pins, with a little polishing you can have a decent trigger. I also used one with a RRA trigger and I would look closely at going that route again

Not like I've built a ton of AR's but the ones I have done, I've used CMMG kits. My fave so far is the CMMG with no fire control group. Add an ALG trigger group and ambi selector switch. I much prefer the selector that has one shorter side, which I put on the left side.

Honestly don't have much use for the super nice drop-in triggers and anti-walk pins. If I were into competitive shooting sports then sure... just overkill for lil ole me.

I have been real happy with a Del-ton kit. I had a LPK from PSA that was not good. Sample of one, others think they are great. I had good luck with DPMS but I don't see any of their stuff anymore.

DPMS is no more, unless PSA brings it back. PSA's parent company bought the DPMS brand when Remington Outdoor Company was dismantled and auctioned off in parts.

I've been using CMMG lpk's and JP Rifle trigger group with safety selector on three builds. Wonderful trigger, no complaints about the lpk.
