Tri Star Viper shoots great with anything factory loaded, comes with shims for adjustment. Looks good and is inexpensive but of good quality. That's my vote.

I have a tristar viper g2. it's fine. and mostly a beretta 300 inside.

but something out of turkey. they're the OEM for a lot of companies you have heard of before, like cz, weatherby, etc. The benelli inertia system is out of patent, so there are copies of it. Cheap semi auto shotguns and cheap bolt rifles are really tremendous values right now.

I agree.

Good used 1100. I have bought five in the last ten years, none over $450. I have lucky sons.

I have to agree with you. I have been shooting Remington 1100's for years. They are great guns and generally at a reasonable price on the used market. You need to learn the difference between the 2&3/4" and the 3" guns depending on your needs. Not hard to learn, but it is important .

MY understanding is that Huglu, not Tristar, makes the CZ shotguns

I wasnt trying to imply tristar makes the cz shotguns. Tristar makes nothing. They are an importer. Armsan makes the viper.

Turkish shotguns are made by
  1. Huglu
  2. Ata (they make the sa-08 for weatherby)
  3. Armsan
  4. Hatsan
  5. Yildiz
  6. Sarsilmaz
  7. Istanbul Silah
  8. Husan
  9. Akus
Of those, back when I followed it, I think ata, armsan, and akus were making the best ones. But don't hold me to that. Also note that almost no guns are sold under those turkish names. Except academy sells a lot of yildiz.

AKUS makes excellent guns. They made the S&W Elite Gold, a true triggerplate round action with real bone and charcoal case color hardening. That became the Dickinson sold by Cabela's.
