I bought a Belgian rifle that started life around 1840 as a flintlock and was changed to percussion in 1859. At some point it was smooth bored into a shotgun (.54 caliber). It was still cool but not accurate beyond 10 feet. I got Bob Boyd's name here on this forum and gave him a call, then sent him the barrel to be relined. He had it several months and then one day it showed up at my door, all relined and purty inside. It's now .50 caliber (he'll do any caliber) and accurate as heck. If you have an old rifle that's worth saving but needs to be relined, he's Da Man. You gotta be patient - he's a busy man, but he's busy because he's good. He relined my barrel even though he could not get the breech off (it's actually the last five or so inches of the barrel).
I have a new favorite firearm.
