Reloader 15 what is it good for??? I saw some at my lgs and was wondering if it's any good/what you use it for

I've found it REALLY good for 204 Ruger with 45 gr. bullets, 223 Remington with 77 gr. bullets and 375 H&H Magnum with both 270 and 300 gr. bullets.

Wow that's at both ends of the spectrum So I guess it's good for a lot of things then?

I've never used any but from what I've read it performs very well in 223.

According to Hodgdon's burning-rate chart, RE15 falls between IMR 4895 and IMR 4320.

This means that RE15 will serve for virtually ANY conventional cartridge from the .222 to the .460 Weatherby.

It may not be the absolute BEST in some of those chamberings, but it will do the job.

In today's market, if I was looking for a medium-speed rifle powder to stash in quantity, RE15 would be a prime candidate..... and I am looking.

I use it with 168s in .308. It works with 175s as well. Good stuff. As posted, it is one of those versatile powders due to its burn rate.

Good for .223 with 77 grain match bullets in 1/7 twist barrels. Also, for 80 gr. match bullets.

Just ok in my book for .223/5.56 but outstanding in .30-06 out of my Garand and Winc. Model 70 and just dandy in .243 Win, 7mm-08 Rem., and .308 Win.

Nice .223 Remington powder ... works really well with 55 plus grain bullets ... it shoots very well under a 65 grain Sierra for a deer load ....

Reloader 15 is a bit temperature sensitive, that's why the Military dumped using it in the M118 L/R ammo.

Alliant introduced AR Comp a couple of years ago and according to Alliant, it is less temperature sensitive than Reloader 15.

I still have some Reloader 15 that I will use up, but after it's gone, I'll switch to AR Comp. I've tested AR Comp in the 308 Win. and 223 Remington. I'm getting great velocities with it in the 308 Win. and very good accuracy with low E/S & S/D's.

AR Comp is a bit faster burning than Reloader 15.

RL15 is good for 77 grain 223 loads, it tends to be a bit weird on loading, pressure seems to want to jump when approaching max. I like it so far, it meters very well in my Hornady LNL powder measure.

yes! Very similar. Almost all the uses of varget can use rl 15. Varget is suposed to be an extreme powder with a resistance to temp change, while rl15 doesn't, it still a fine powder.

The M118LR round uses Lake City brass, RL-15 powder, and a Sierra 175gr bullet (not sure about the primer) designed to be shot in a bolt action rifle.

I use RL15 in 308 and 22-250, very good powder for a wide range of aplications, now overall I like RL19 and RL22 more for my 6.5x55, 30-06 and magnums, but RL15 certainly has it's place. I would try it in my 7mm-08 as well but I am already shooting impressive speeds and well under MOA accuracy with Big Game and H380 and see no reason to change.

I developed the most accurate load my Marlin 336 has shot with the Sierra #2000 and RL15. I bought it because H4895 was nowhere to be found a year ago. Sometimes these shortages produce positive things. Also found that H335 does well with 170 grainers.

Was going to try RL15 in the 450 Marlin but could not find published load data so I went with the similar H335, it works wonders in a 450 Marlin, I am shooting 400gr Speers over 53gr and getting impressive accuracy considering the rifles 2x scope, first time out I shot a 1.25" group at 100, I wanted to step up to 57gr to see if I could get it even tighter but the recoil started to become fierce as we worked up, kicked like an elephant gun so we decided to stock to the more mild load, don't think any hog will ever notice the difference and it would be tough shooting below MOA with such a low power optic even if the load was perfect.

Well I picked up a pound and I am going to use it in 308

You will not be disappointed. I use 47 gr of it behind 150 ttsx in my 308. Runs right at 2950 fps. I have a 5lb kimber that shoots about as flat as my 300 win mag. Gets me about 200 fps over varget. The varget takes up too much volume in the case. No pressure signs with the barnes bullets either.
