I loaded 10 rounds using 62grains RL19 with a 150 grain nosler ballistic green tip The lyman book states 64 grains to be max with a 150 bullet, and the nosler book shows 61.5 as being max powder charge. Will I have to take these apart or will they be ok? Thanks

My Lee Second Edition pg.447 for a 150 grain Jacketed Bullet shows Reloader-19 at 63.5c for velocity of 2895 and 50900 psi. c= compressed load. S.A.A.M.I. for the 30-06 is 60,000 psi.

It would seem that the 62gr charge is the listed max on the Alliant site for a 150gr Speer. Wear your safety glasses and inspect the first round for signs and check for hard bolt lift after firing, if it is a bolt action. Stop right there if you experience any abnormalities.

Check out the site for the new Rel-17 powder too.

Choose whichever resource you like, and follow it faithfully.

Of course, 'faithfully' is the operative word. Primer, case, bullet type, etc.

My humble suggestion, in the spirit of safe rifle reloading with mixed components: Starting loads are typically 10% below max, and work up methodically from there. To start at max or just below max with a new powder (and perhaps limited experience) leaves one open to unanswered questions.

If you loaded in accordance with Lyman's recipe, you should be good to go. But approaching it methodically will teach you more about that powder/bullet combination in your rifle.

I have loaded 62.0gr of RL19 with Nosler 150gr Accubonds, and an OAL of 3.250. Groups were poor to fair, best being 1-1/4".

I've also loaded 63.5gr of RL19 under Sierra 150gr spitzers. OAL was 3.210. Groups were 1.5" to 2".

The former is listed as a compressed load, though it barely was. The latter was compressed.
