new here but looked around a bit and did not find this information. Does anyone have some names of commercial reloading equipment? What I am looking at is the stuff you would buy starting a reloading buisness. Any help would be appreciated.
benedict1,
This is THR, we are supposed to treat people better than that.
dragn1,
Welcome to this forum. Sorry I don't have enough knowledge about reloading equipment to help but I'm sure someone will be able to point you in the right direction soon.
I have both a Type 6 and 7 FFL and I use a 550 on my loading line for some calibers. We also have several Super 1050's and one CAMDEX machine. If you don't need mass mass quantities a 550 will suit you just fine for many things. I do quite a bit of obscure caliber reloadin on my 550 cause dillon doesn't make a shellplate and conversion for the 1050. Having one made is extremely costly and the wait times are impossible. The CAMDEX costs thousands for a regular conversion, I couldn't imagine having a custom set of plates made...
I wonder if "Ammoload vs.Camdex" wars are anything like the spirited "Lee vs. Hornady vs. Dillon"? Probably not - looks like Ammoload and Camdex machines are both gray. I'd guess one needs a color difference to get really worked up.
I will soon have an CAMDEX loader in 38 Special/357 Magnum for sale and was wondering if "BRAINSTEM" might be interested in it. I could not send him an e-mail to him directly due to his wishes of not receiving direct e-mails. If interested, please go to www.precisioncartridge.com
If you're close to Northern Indiana, there's a guy in the very NW part of the state that commercially reloads on a VERY large scale. I'd suggest visiting one of those places.
Believe it or not, he said his biggest problem is sorting brass. There is no commercial machine made that will sort out all calibers and separate brass from steel cases, or at least do it well. Has to be done by hand.
There were several recent posts on a couple of boards where someone made a brass sorter out of two rollers. The video looked pretty slick. I will look for it and will post it here.
It appears to be a commercial case sorter, here is the link.
ok the OP of this thread did it in june of 2007. With only 2 post here on THR. i guess it was that warm welcome we all gave him. Gee do you think he ever started his bullet business
My local gun shop owner made his sorters by milling the slots in a Dillon media separator to each caliber. Then he sorts from small to large. Seems to work pretty well based on his cost for sorted brass.
The Camdex machine is one, http://www.ammoload.com/ also offers several commercial machines. Expect to spend in excess of $15,000 for a new one set up and ready to go (for one caliber). A Dillon 650 with case & bullet feeders (+-$1100) for pistol or a 1050 with bullet & case feeders (+- $2000) for rifle is a better place to start. The photos below are of the brass sorter I built its hands free and will sort much better than the “dump in screen and shake” type sorters.
Jmorris- That machine makes music to my ears. I bet it is very easy to get into a trance and just sit and watch it work for hours.
Dennis- You really should post a video of that Man Machine working some brass!! That looks so awesome! The starting bid has me dreaming and I don't even shoot enough .38/.357 to even consider it...
