I've got some older .45ACP reloads. 230g FMJ I don't know who or what data was used to load them. I'm planning on pulling the bullets and I wanted an opinion as to whether or not I can reuse the bullets. I'd hate to throw away perfectly good 230g FMJ.

pulled bullets are fine. may have some scars but no real effect if you arent shooting some kind of match.

It depends on how you pull them. If you use a kinetic or collet puller they will be fine. If you use a pair of vice-grips you may want to toss them into a casting pot.

i've reloaded pulled bullets a couple times before.... i used a kinetic puller and reused the bullets but threw the powder into the garden..... if you are careful and take your time you can get most bullets out of the case without grrrrring up the tips............... just whack and look and whack and look until you can pull the free of the case with your fingers in most cases...... like the others have said use them for fun shooting not anything serious.......

If your kinetic puller doesn't have a pad for catching the bullet just stick a foam ear plug in it to protect the tip.

I made a small rubber disc for my kinetic.

I definitely reuse each and every bullet I pull IF I loaded it. I have 400hundred hot load 9mms that I'm planning to pull apart and reload with my powder when I get time.

Whether you use a kinetic impact puller or a collet, loosen the bullet first by seating it slightly deeper (maybe .010") into the case. They pull out much easier that way. Otherwise you can whack that hammer without budging the bullet if it's too tight in the case.

45acp FMJ have a pretty tough jacket. You'll pull them and resuse them just fine.

Remove the primer decapping rod and resize the case like normal, but you don't have to reprime. Just use the existing primer. Then bell, charge and seat like normal.

If you don't know what the old powder is, use it as garden fertilizer.
