I have a Littleton shot maker. I also have access to lead alloy....range lead....for free. So I make my own shot. The machine works; it makes quite nice #7.5 shot.
Making it is not a matter of set and forget. I have to tend the machine....keeping it fed and watching coolant levels and temperature (you have to drop the molten shot into coolant as it drips. I use antifreeze as recommended by the manufacturer. This also means that I have to wash the coolant off when I am done and then dry the shot and then graphite the stuff.)
It is a process. I have the time and it does save $ if one shoots enough.
Yeah....plus $11.30 shipping. So by the time it gets to you, the cost is over $50 per bag.
