am intrested in reloading for my new 410. have read some intresting things about slugs. was hoping to get more insight.
I reload for rifles and hand guns, would like to learn shotgun loading.
I have a mec 600 jr (used) with 12g set up (i dont own a 12g)

410 is a hoot to shoot, I use mine for skeet and trap.. Reloading requires a machine made for 410, and the Mec Jr is about the best unless you are into volumn.. I reload around 500 410s per week to shoot up on sunday.. as far as slugs in my 410s no way.. you can get the same thing from a 45 colt rifle or pistol..

Thanks for the links and info.
I also enjoy dustin clays, seein the look on my 12g friends faces when they try the 410

I use the new .410 1100 sporter for trap and skeet, just change the chokes and go put the "Big Boys" to shame..:D

However if you dont reload shooting the 410 even with the 2 1/2 in shells gets costly..

Amen. My 1100 is a modified choke.
Ive taken it squirrle hunting but hung it back on the wall. I was losing too many
Any insight?

Fixed modified?

Is this an older 1100 with the fixed mod choke?
If so, never ever alter this gun, leave it as it, and never get rid of it!

I prefer fixed and fixed modified is a good one for this gun!
Pattern a variety of loads (store bought or reload recipes both Chilled( soft) and Target( hard shot).

Before screw in chokes, we "stacked loads" meaning the first shot was chilled shot and the second was hard shot.
Chilled shot deforms and opens up patters to get a Improved Cylinder performance and harder shot - tightens up pattern density.

Slugs, again shoot some five packs to see what a particular barrel likes.

Some elderly folks with medical concerns, use .410 slugs out of 1100 for HD guns.
Kids and grandkids can run these 1100s with slugs too.

Hold onto that gun, they do not, and will not make them like that one anymore.

07 model
I went to buy a 1100 spoter, with all the tubes. The guy handed me what I asked for and then asked if I would like "this one" a new 1100 with scroll work and fancy stock.
It was a limited run from remington as far as I have been able to find out.
The price was the same. A beautiful gun.

it is labeled for 3" only
