Who makes the best Zouave rifle ever?is the Zoli is an oldie but goodies ? Pedosoli looms prettiest and priciest as well but those Chiappa made price is not too far behind. How about Armisport and Euroarms? Thank everyone in advance for input.

I have a Zoli Zouave as well as a Zoli 1855 Springfield Carbine (nearly identical parts) Both well made, rugged, etc. The Zouave shoots patched round balls better than minnies for me. The rear sight leaves are a minor thing to deal with.

I also have an unknown repro Zouave barrel marked made in Italy that I do not consider safe to shoot. The Breech and the barrel both have female threads and are screwed onto what looks like a 2 inch pipe nipple from the hardware store.

I have a Euroarms Zouave I bought a few years ago that is very good quality. I haven't shot patched balls out of it but the .576 minie ball is accurate out to 100yds.

Well, I expect the answer for the best Zouave rifle ever to be Pedosoli. It kind of look pretty in the pictures. Saw bunch of Zoli on auction site but never able to win any. Had anyone try Pedosoli yet or own one?

Seconded. They're generally great. I have three Pedersolis and they're all really well built, fit and finish is terrific, good quality wood. I've never seen their Zouave though.

The reason why I got the Zoli was that I'd been hearing good things about them, and then I was asking a friend with an extensive collection about them and he pulled out two - one a short carbine version, very cute - and he had positive things to say and I could see that it was a nicely put together rifle, although not to Pedersoli standards. But it's not my primary black powder rifle, I just wanted something to try shooting minie balls out of. So I started bidding conservatively on gunbroker and eventually got a really nice one at a more than reasonable cost.

I will have to keep trying at the bid for the Zoli. I usually lost the bid right at 5 minutes before closing. Tempt to get into bidding war but I fear my winning will cost me as much as brand new Pedosoli
