Scope was WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY Low... and it was bouncing the bullets off the ground... thus keyholing the bullets into the target....

Shot it today at 25 yards and it was 2 feet low... so do the math at 100 yards... 8 feet low?

Yeah.. I know.. IM a tool!

Didn't expect this for the problem!! "Bouncing bullets off the ground, and getting on the target...........Priceless":D

Learn how to bore sight, my friend:)

That is very unusual. One possibility is that the scope is simply sighted way too high and the bullets are bouncing off the ground before striking the target. If you were shooting in a rifle tube or indoor range, this is particularly likely. Have the gun bore-sighted or try shooting at 25 yards and see where you are on paper.

cttbax,
Good thing it's not around the first of April - people might not believe you. Stuff happens. At least you are on your way to enjoying your rifle. Getting within the magic 8' at 100 is behind you.
My brother has come to never trust someone elses scope mounting.

You must be relieved.

Why was it 96ish MOA low? 91.69 to be more exact.

Well that is certainly the cheapest solution. In future you may wish to remove the bolt,
with the gun supported on sandbags or in a padded vise, and look through the bore at an object, say 200 yards off or so, and adjust your scope to the same. This will generally
get you well on the paper at 100 yds.. So hopefully you are in the final innings and now you are ahead. Good Luck.

Whenever I am in doubt and having a problem like that, I automatically bring the target in real close (25 yards, or even closer, depending on how far off I am).

I can say I don't think I ever experienced what you did!

I'm glad you found out not without a lot more headaches, wondering just what to do NEXT!

"I was laughing so hard when it finally hit me today at the range.... I bet some other shooters thought I was crazy! "

Don't forget to call your gunshop and apologize ( as meekly as you can). You have a bit more to do dialing that scope in, of course. Looks like everything is shooting in the same vicinity of the bull, so you'll probably get there o.k.. Best

Ha ha a hahha a! Don't sweat it. We've all done some silly stuff. The first time Gramps let me field strip his 1911 the recoil plug took out Grand Ma's kitchen light.

If you can hit the ground and bounce your shots onto the target in ANY fashion you need to go out and buy some lotto tickets NOW!!

Well, that 'splains it. To think that back in the late 19th and early 20th Century, the Germans in their schutzenfest used to skip their bullets off a body water to hit a target.

did you say the twist was 1 in 12? If so try 155 grain palma's from sierra. that should be about the top for the 12 twist. If they keyhole go to 130's.
