Okay I have researched the heck of out rifles within my budget, and found that the Rem 700 SPS is going to be the ticket. I talked to a gun shop and they said they can order me a .308 so all is going well. Two qestions...

1. Will a BDL synthetic stock fit on and SPS? I don't really like the SPS look and am curious if I can change the stock if I end up hating it.

2. The bolt is "blued" like the barrel and receiver. Can I get the bolt jeweled if the finish is on the bolt/can the finish (if need be) be removed so the bolt can get jeweled? I always liked jeweled bolts and I am planning on keeping this gun until I die.

Thanks!!!

1- yes, as long as you pay attention to action lengths (remington has 2 action sizes: short, and long - your 308 will be a short action).

2- yes. you should remove the finish, which isn't much, then jewel away. you may be able to just have the jewelling process remove the finish, but it isn't a route i'd go.
