Why is the 870 20 ga so difficult to get to reassemble? My 12 ga guns are all a snap. No problems. My friends 20 was a royal bitch. I had to take it to my gunsmith. Not sure what he did but he got it.
My buddy has a 20 gauge 870 express that's hard to get the bolt and action bars back in. I pushed the shell stop harder and it went back together. To start with we were catching the action bar behind the shell stop.
Weird. Never had a problem with mine, and it now has an aftermarket stock, forearm, barrel, and a side saddle shell holder. So its been apart a few times. At least he got it fixed!
Having both a 12 and 20ga 870 the problem (to me) is the 20ga is simply smaller on the inside so harder to work with. It's easier to press down the ejectionside shell stop on the 12 than it is with the 20. I find it more of a struggle to get the doggone 20 back together.
