12 years ago, I bought a REM Model 700 in .30-06 for a song; Leupold 3x9 Goldring scope. Hi-gloss blued barrel and hi-gloss walnut stock. I'd like to put it in a composite stock. I never intend to sell the rifle; admittedly leaning to the composite stock so I can stop worrying so much when I take it to the woods.

Otay....I'll listen now; please, if you can, recommend where/what kinda composite you like.

Best regards, as always, Gang.

ebay...

all sorts of stocks pass through, be patient and one will come by for you.

Hey, Fellas....thanks for the substantial replies. Marshall, thanks for letting me know about my action; I didn't know that. What about the letters BBL and BDL....??

younganddumb.....I've a REM Model 7 in .243 that "feels" short and tight. I like that. Is that what you mean? Sorry to be so ignorant about such; I can fly the hair of our Army's helicopters, but never refined my knowledge to know what's out there.

Winchester and dryhumor.....I'll give a look, surely.

Best, Fellas.

take a look at what Hogue has to offer. i assume this is a hunting rifle & the overmold can be had with pillar bedding or full length. impervious to weather & silent in the woods.

Hi AA, 1st I want to say thanks for serving our country. You are my heroes!! I put a thumbhole laminate stock on my 700 bdl 30-06 and love it. Composite stocks make noise in hunting situations. As to the LA, SA. LA long actions are 30-06, 270, 7mm mag etc. SA short actions are .223, .243, .308. ADL has no floor plate, BDL has a floor plate. Mac

pbrktrt....does the "pbr" part of your user name stand for Pabst Blue Ribbon? :) In case you didn't know, Pabst Blue Ribbon remains an award winner, nationally, even above the sellout Anheiser Busch....AND....in April of this year, Schiltz found 3 of the 4 original brewmasters still alive; $$ was arranged, and Schlitz has returned to it's original recipe that made it famous. It will eventually be brewed only in brown bottles; avail now in MI, WS.

I digress. Thank you...all.

Encoreman, thank you for your kind words. But, the thanks goes to you all for your undying support and all those d@#m taxes you all pay that pays my salary. And thank you for explaining what I have, a long action, BDL. How do they make noise? Just a hollow sound of some sort?

Anyway, thank you. Mac, I see you're in MS; I'm in AL. Come on over and hunt with me sometime. I've some time now. --Bryant

One more....

Fellas, in the ads for some composite stocks, I see "pillar bedding" and "full length bedding block." Is this namely a stability choice? Please help, if you're able. --Bryant
