Remington 11 recoil spring

Hi, I am wondering if you can use a Browning recoil spring on a Rem 11(the spring that goes over the mag). I have a 1927 12ga with a 5 shot mag. I have checked Numrich, Brownells, Midway, Ebay, Ahlmans, ect without finding a replacement. I've seen a fair number people claiming they've done this successfully, However Brownells says it will NOT work. Any help from someone with extensive knowledge/experience with these guns will be much appreciated.

The Auto-5 recoil spring will work on the five-shot Remington Model 11, but not on the three-shot Model 11.

I have an old 16 gauge Model 11 that needs new springs. I bought an A5 spring kit from Midwest Gun Works but have not yet tried to install it. I asked this question here awhile back.

OP bought a spring from ebay-posted in a thread on the gunsmithing board. Hope it isnt compressed and works for him.
