I recently picked up a Remington 1100 at the pawn shop for $175 as a project. Functionally the gun is perfect. However, someone has bubba'ed it up with a homemade krylon camo paint job. I have stripped all of the paint off the gun. It has no dents or cracks in the stock or forearm. Whoever painted it had sanded the gloss finish off of the gun before they painted it. I have the wood refinish under control but I am wondering what to do with the metal. What will a reblueing job cost me? What are my other options? Keep in mind I would like to get some different barrels for it in the future. So whatever finish I apply would need to match a newer barrel too. Thanks for the help.

I used to paint my guns around salt water, and then later when I'd strip the paint off the bluing was always perfect.
Only thing that's gonna match is bluing. Do a search and check references. Outfit I used to use is gone.

That looks great. I will call them tomorrow and get it shipped this week. Thanks for the help. If I ever learn to post pics I will do some before and after shots.

I tried rust bluing my 1100, apparently the chromium content in the receiver is too high as the thing won't rust!

I'm considering color case hardening if I can figure out how to protect the magazine tube from becoming debrazed in the process.
