Just got back from the range shooting my 3" ruger gp100. The first cylinder was loaded with the remington r38s12. No problems. Blew off 50 magtech and another 50 125 grain remington sjhp (value pack). No problem. I came home cleaned gun. I went to load 6 of the swchp's and realized it was difficult to close the cylinder. Tried several other rounds from two different boxes all tight. When I tried the remington +p 125's and various other .357 rounds no problem. Upon closer examination I discovered the rims are thicker on the lhp's! What gives? Only the lhp's are thicker in the rim more so than other remington .38 and .357 rounds I have. Anyone else find this issue? Guess I can't use the famous fbi load on this weapon. I carry these in my lcr and had no issues. Dumbfounded

Take a old toothbrush and clean the unburned power granules out from under the ejector star.

Then next time you shoot it, point the barrel at the sky when you eject the empty's and all the crud will fall out on the ground with the cases, instead of under the ejector star.

RC. It's not that. The gun is clean. When I mix in other ammo types remington. Or otherwise into the cylinder (open ) muzzle down. I can point out the lhp's out of th mix based on the rim thickness. The rims are completely contacting the cylinder. The clearance when you close the cylinder is not great enough to smoothly close the cylinder just on the lhp's. everything else ammo wise is smooth as butter. I have a 6" gp100 ill try them in later. This is odd.

In my experience just about everything Remington makes these days is "out of spec". I generally toss any Rem. brass in the waste can.

It is unlikely, but not impossible, that that gun has short headspace. Measure the rim thickness on the questionable rounds; it should be .048" to .059". If it is over .059", the cases are out of spec. If it is within those figures, the gun is too tight.
