My son just called me last night and mentioned a blurb on TV that talked about a problem with some Remington 700's that has been known to the company for 40-50 years but it still persists.
The show had video of a guy that had a loaded 700 sitting in a rest and when he just barely touched the bolt, the gun discharged! I'm not talking about working the bolt.... I'm saying that he just hardly touched it.
The show went on to say that they had proof that Remington knew about this back in the 60's but decided not to do a redesign.
Has anyone heard of this problem?
My son called because I had an accidental discharge 5-6 years ago while trying to load my hunting rifle (a 1969-70 Rem. 700) in pitch black conditions while sitting in my deer stand.
