Has anyone out there ever had a problem setting a scope up on a Rem 700?
Heres the deal, If I put a standard base on one of my 700's and regular rings that are not windage adjustable what happens is the scope is very high and to the right. Its like the holes on the receiver are drilled and tapped in the wrong spot. I have to shim up the base to take care of the elevation so that I dont use up all of my elevation in my scope just to shoot 200 yards. Then I have to put on an adjustable type ring or base. What I want to accomplish is to put a badger 20moa base on it with a couple of shims. This will take care of the elevation problem which isn't that big of a problem but I would still like to know if there is anything out there that I can do about it besides just shimming it. Then I would like to get some high quality bases like the Badger tactical bases. Well I have to use up all of my windage to get these to work being that they are not adjustable.
Is there anyone out there that can help me in this matter? Do I just need to take the gun to a gunsmith? Would this flaw be covered by Remington?
Thanks for your input fellows.
