all my years i've been deer hunting with a remington 7400 chambered in 30-06. it was a gun my dad bought me when i was young but now someone else is using it. pretty much my whole hunting party of 20+ hunters use this rifle. last year i didn't use it because i bought a new ar15 and used that instead. well i didn't get to shoot any deer with the ar15, just bad luck but that is another story. at a local gun shop they have the model 740 for about $125 and the 7400 model for $475 both in excellent condition. i understand the 740 model is the older model but how do they compare? what a price difference! with my experience and along with other hunters the model 7400 jams regularly and doesn't seem to like fast rapid fire. i've read that it has something to do with the internals like a weak recoil spring or something but the new remy semi auto's are a lot better. i still love the model 7400 because it was the gun i grew up with and am looking forward to getting my own but is it worth getting the 740?
