Hey all. I've tried a search here and on Google and haven't really found anything. I'm looking for load suggestions for a Remington 760 in .30-06. Preferably with 165 grain bullets. Anybody have anything they'd like to share? Thanks.

I'll just point you to www.hodgdon.com, so you can get an idea of the load data there. Data suggested by someone may or may not work in your particular rifle.

You'll find that the Rem 760 can handle any SAAMI spec loads that you want to put together. IMO, 165gr bullets are ideal for anything that you want to hunt.
There are at least a dozen powders that will give you top performance in the '06 with the 165gr.

Do you have any load manuals?

What powders do you have, if any?

I have several manuals--Sierra, Nosler, Lee, etc and have looked over them.

I realize that I'll need to work up the load in my rifle, but I was just hoping to see what people were having success with in the 760.

As far as powder goes, I have H4350, IMR4895, and H380 available. Powder seems to be back on the shelves around here, so I would have no problem grabbing something else if necessary.

U can also go to handloads.com. Most of the loads listed came from different load manuals. I have had good luck with 49.8gr of varget under Hornady 165 SST's. This load is close too max so u need to reduce it to start.

Either H-4350 or IMR-4895 should do well with 165 grain bullets.
H380 might be a tad on the slow side for the gas system, plus a max load will be a compressed charge to get enough of it in the case.

I can't tell you a load. Just use a reloading manual and start at the suggested starting load and work up until you get proper semi-auto functioning and the accuracy you want.

I know RC knows what it is, but the Rem. 760(7600) is a pump, may be a senior moment.

It does use the same type action minus the gas system, so start at the low end and work your way up just like with any gun. H4350 would work well in that gun.

My brother has a 6 mm Remington 742, my neighbor has a 6 mm Remington 760. We were shooting impromptu targets(water jugs, oil cans...) one day, there is a large pine tree there that we all propped the guns on, neighbor grabs the 742 instead of his 760, almost snatchs the forearm off the 742 trying to shuck it. Took them a while to realize what was going on. The whole time I was LMAO!!
