I was considering one of these rifles, for the fast handling. Does anyone have experience in them, or heard good things about them?

The Remington 7600 rifles are fine pieces of equipment. All of the examples I've fired have shown excellent accuracy every bit as good and in some cases better than your average run of the mill sporting weight bolt gun.

About the only issue I can think of is if you end up with a really dirty chamber you can have some extraction issues, due to the comparatively weak primary extraction forces typical of rotating bolt head systems.

IIRC they accept AR mags.

The 'new' mdl 7615 takes the AR mags.

The 76x or 76xx series have been around a long time.

Decent accuracy. If memory serves me, they have been offered in .243, .270, .308 and .30-'06 for many, many years.
One of my hunting buddies has the 760 in .308, and has taken many deer with it.

The 74x and 74xx series have also been available for years too, if you're looking for the same 'animal', except in semi-auto.

7600's ancestor

I have an old Remington 76 (ancestor to 7600) -- it's old, but still seems to work well. Haven't fired it much, but no complaints so far . . .

I love my 7600 Remington. 308 calibur and have shot many, many deer and even a couple moose.

Would suggest you consider the synthetic stock because I have replaced my fore stock three times, the plastic end seems to seperate from the wood and gives a lousy feel to the pump action.

Gun has never jamed, or miss fired, OL FAITHFUL

Hunt more!

My dad has had one in .257 Roberts for about 40 years. When we are in thick brush, it's always the rifle he grabs. It's beat to snot, he says it makes him look like a really good shot.

A friend of ours, about 20 years ago, bought some aftermarket hi-cap for his 7600 in '06. It failed to feed at the moment of truth. He ceremoniously roasted the mag in the camp fire.

I've got the 7600 carbine in 30.06. One of my favorite shooters.

Here is a pic.

At one time I had '50's vintage 760 chambered in .300 Savage. I installed a Williams reciever sight and I liked it a lot. It functioned fine and carried well deer hunting. I'm sure the current would be just as good. Think you might enjoy one. Essex
