It's not a bad price. It's a bolt-action hunting rifle with a simple two position safety, single stage trigger, and inexpensive synthetic stock. The scope is probably a basic 3x9 you could buy off the shelf for $50 or less. It is a safe, simple, accurate rifle. If you are not interested in upgrades at a later date, if you will be satisfied with it as-is (the only thing you can improve on it is changing out the scope and possibly the rings), it would probably be a satisfactory purchase.
It will get you out hunting, for sure. I paid ~400 bucks for my Savage Model 11 with a package scope - probably the same one as comes on that Axis, actually. I will probably change out the stock in a year or three, and the scope is probably going sooner than that. But until I can afford that, it is a perfectly functional, accurate, reliable rifle. The Model 11 is a bit more visually attractive (to me). If you don't care about that, the Axis would save you some money if you're not going to do anything to it beyond zeroing it and getting out hunting.
