Hey folks,

I am having a hard time coming up with a value to place on a particular gun of mine, and I was hoping some folks here would have some input.

I have a rare (to my knowledge) Remington 870 Wingmaster Super Magnum that has scrollwork on both sides.

This gun was purchased new by me, and has less than 50 shells fired through it. I also have a matching rifled slug barrel with it as well.

The bluing is 100%, and the wood is 99% (no scratches at all, just a very small indent where another gun must have rested on it in my safe).

Anyone have any ideas on what this gun might be worth?

Here are some pics, the Wingmaster is (obviously) the one on top.

As always, thanks so much!

rare is relative
These were made from 2000 to 2006
$610 in 100% condition, $500 in 98% condition
+ the value of the slug barrel, maybe a premium for the set

Thanks, Stoky.

My assumption that this shotgun was rare was based on only being able to find 2 or 3 forum posts about this model while googling. Few posts, plus the mention of this model being rare in a few of those posts lead me to believe that this gun was not readily accessible currently.

Any clue where these are available? I've been trying to find one, but I can't find anyone selling them anywhere online.

You can get them new for around $500.
$100 or so less for the express model.
I haven't seen a new Wingmaster priced under $700 in several years. I've NEVER actually seen a 3.5" Supermag Wingmaster. That gun is rare. But probably not especially valuable. The 3.5" shells are sorta special purpose and most of the guys who actually use them want a cheaper beater gun to throw in the bottom of a duck boat and be able to hose the mud off when they get home.

The guys who buy the fancy Wingmaster don't typically shoot anything bigger than 2 3/4 skeet loads. Which is exactly why not many were ever made.

I'd see what a standard 3" chambered Wingmaster is selling for on the used market. If you want to sell quick use that as a guide on price. You can probably get a premium for it, If you can find a buyer. The market for people who want that gun to shoot 3 1/2" shells is limited. But you might well find someone who will pay about the same price as a similar 3" gun and just never use the bigger shells in it.

Does the slug barrel also take 3 1/2" shells? You might do better selling the extra barrel separately.

The price of shotguns in my area has tanked this year as the state went with a rifle season for deer hunting, although it is only a 2 year test period. Everyone has decided to dump their shotguns and use a rifle. Last gun show I saw numerous pretty nice 870 Wingmasters with slug barrels on them for $350- $425 and 1100's for about $75 more average wise. 2 years ago the price was $500-600 average for used Wingmasters. New ones right now from a gun shop are about $675-$700.

Your particular model is a bit more rare as said, so if you could hold onto it until the right person decides they want it you might get $550-$600 for the gun, and I would try to sell the slug barrel separately. If you are wanting a quick sale $450 might do it in the right market. Poor time of year right now also, closer to hunting season you are apt to do better.

They date to ca. 2000 and were probably available on limited basis for couple years. The one I had was less often found variant w/o roll ons. They date back to Remington safety lock and rubber bumper recoil pad era. The only issue with mine was I had to work slide smartly while shooting 2&3/4" shells otherwise empties would barely come out of ejection port. The only thing needed is functional pad if one wants to put magnum cartridges through the gun.

I would say they don't pop up that frequently and should be classified as semi-rare.

Here in central ohio that gun would bring 450 to 550 with the deer barrel . its a really nice gun but you can find used ones like the matt finish for about 200 used
