I have a Remington Model 1100 12 ga. with a smooth bore deer barrel and iron sights. I have also added a 7+1 extended magazine tube and want to use the reduced load Slugs and OO Buck Shot loads for home defense.

Will the low recoil loads properly cycle the 1100 or will it short stroke?

I would like to use the Federal Vital-Shok Low Recoil 2.75” 12 ga. 1 oz. TruBall HP Slugs (PB127 LRS) and the Federal Vital-Shok Low Recoil 2.75” 12 ga. Buffered Copper Plated 00 Buck with Flite Control Wad (PFC 154).

It very well might cycle. My understanding is that they are sprung with target clay-pigeon loads in mind, which low-recoil buckshot and slugs probably out-muscle.

Remington says that the low recoil shells "usually" won't operate auto shotguns.
Their Law Enforcement site specifically says the 11-87 won't and the 1100 usually doesn't either.

Key is to shoot lots of any load planned for serious use. :) You just never know what works until you shoot it. I've seen various brands of shotguns choke on various loads - no rhyme or reason or brand issues. Always test things extensively. :D
