Remington mini dehumidifier

Hey all, I just completed a gun cabinet with my dad about a week ago. Where I live, it gets very humid in the summer, and in the house. It is simply too much for my guns to handle and they rust very quickly, so I constantly have to oil them up. What I was wondering: Have any of you used or heard of this Remington mini dehumidifier, and is it good? http://www.cabelas.com/gun-safes-remington-mini-dehumidifier-3.shtml Obviously the reviews look good, but I just want to hear some of your experiences with it.

I've got one, it is ... ... well, it is OK, but it isn't going to handle high-volume moisture, considering that I need to recharge it and another similar size/design desiccant pack every 2-3 weeks here in NW Ohio in an air-conditioned room indoors.

Have one of those, plus two large box ones plus a goldenrod in my 12 gun safe......all told they handle the humidity well for 3-4 months

Sir, I recently purchased a whole room dehumidifier and it has made a world of difference in a damp basement. In the first 48 hours of use it removed over two gallons of water from the air. These are not cheap, $200.00 - $400.00 but it is money well spent, not only for your comfort but it will help protect your firearms and everything else in the room.

I have one of those, and it works well to dehumidify the safe, but it needs to be recharged, basically plug it in for several hours to dry out the beads. I do that every few months, but it is dependent on how often I am in the safe and how humid it is. You might poke around to find a better price; a company called Eva-Dry makes them for Remington and at that price you can get the bigger 500 model.

If I had a bad problem with rust, I would treat the guns with a protective something.

I think it depends on the safe,closet,or other storage container you have the guns in AND the area in which you live,which for me is the ultra humid Gulf Coast of Texas.
I bought one of those Remington 365's,which by the way is made by Eva-Dry and it was simply not enough for my Amsec BF66X36 gun safe even in my central heat and air home.
So I got online and found a great price on the Eva-Dry 500's which are bigger and even then I must recharge both every 15 days as by then the color indicator says it's time.
I still prefer this over running a constant 110 volt dry rod in my safe.
I stuck the Remington 365 in the secondary over flow Amsec gun safe.
I am glad this thread came up because it reminded me to take them out and recharge them again.
