I was in the local gun shop today and found myself seriously considering a nice looking Remington Model 10 12 gauge. The metal looked really nice with lots of patina, nothing in the white. The mechanism wasn't the smoothest, but probably just needs to be cleaned up. Nothing rattled, lockup was good, safety worked and all that stuff. The wood was good and had no cracks, but the buttstock appears to have been recontoured for a right handed shooter to get a cheekweld (It was very comfortable for me). It had a 28 inch cylinder barrel on it, and also came with a 30 inch full barrel assembly. The dealer was asking $250, which I think is reasonable from what I've seen quoted, especially considering the second barrel. I do have a few concerns. First I've read that most of these guns are chambered for 2 9/16" shells. Second, I didn't have my flashlight with me to check the barrels. I'm thinking of offering $250 as long as it has a 2 3/4" chamber, or he reams it to 2 3/4" (he does a lot of shotgun gunsmithing). What do you guys think, sound like a reasonable price?
