My 84 year old dad fell and broke off his front sight blade on his early 80's 7mm mag. I can't find what height is from the factory to order one shows 3 different ones. Does anyone know what I need to order?

I'm sorry your Dad fell. I hope he is ok. I wasn't aware that Remington made 700's anymore, especially one with rifle sights. I would look on Ebay for one and go with that. It's probably scoped so it won't made any difference.

I have a Rem 700BDL 7mmMag in my safe. It's earlier than yours from the 70's but they should be the same. It's buried in the back so it will take some time to get it out. But If I recall I removed the sights when I put the scope on. I just have to find the box with the parts in it. So give me some time I will get the height for you.

You may want to try Brownells parts search or gunparts.

Found my box of parts for the removed sight, front and rear. I'm assuming you only need the sight height and not the base too. The sight measures 0.380" tall. this is from the top of the base to top of sight. Dovetail thickness is 0.103". Did yours not have the protective ring around the sight?

Sorry haven't been on line for awhile. It was missing the hood for it I believe or it fell off in his fall. I have no measurement on height due to broken but all older sights are the same didn't change till sometime in the 90's

I think the sight manufacturers like Marbles and Williams measure the sight blades from the bottom of the dovetail to the highest point on the blade or bead.
