Hi Everybody,

I ran across a strange looking pistol. It has grips like a revolver,no cylinder, is one shot only. It has a revolver barrel and a 28gauge barrel. Interchangeable
Replica arms on gun and marco. . Serial # xxx3 or 4 I don't remember. I'm sure someone has one of these. A web site would be good. If someone has one.
What are they worth. Yes, thinking about buying a used one. Want to know more about it.
Thanks Guys

Someone had one for sale on Auction Arms about 6 - 9 months ago.
It was listed as a Reserve auction and the bidding didn't ever go much over $200, and I didn't see it sell because the reserve was always higher than the bids from what I ever saw. It probably had a reserve in the neighborhood of at least $225 - $250 because it was unfired and the seller was the original owner who had bought it many years ago.
The 2 barrels were interchangable and held in place by a screw.

It looked a lot like a CVA Conestoga .44 single shot pistol except it included the extra interchangable smoothbore barrel. In 2006 Deer Creek listed the similar .44 single barrel version as the Traditions Prospector which they sold for $149.

CVA does not show one no where. Deer Creek is no longer in business. The Traditions Prospector sold for $149. I can't find the pistol no where. The man wants to much for the pistol. Then again if they don't make them no more. It might be worth it. I like collecting oddities and I might buy it.

mykeal, After arcticap answered my first post. He mentioned in 06. That Deer Creek listed them as a Traditions Prospector. I tried to find the web site. If I have the right one it is in Florida. They have a bad reputation. There are people real disappointed in their service and lies. And not receiving things they ordered. If I was not on the right site and you can give me a good site. This revolver looking pistol 44/28. I kind of like it and would like to buy it. Don't know what the are worth. He is asking $350. I like oddities like that. But don't want to pay to much. If you can help me out. Don't know how long he will hold it. He is the same guy I bought the Cosair-jager 36 double barrel.
Thanks Muzzlesmoke

Campbell: Deer Creek is DEFINITELY still in business.

They have no website, but they definitely still exist (In Indiana, not Florida) and still stock CVA sidelock parts.

Their phones are constantly busy and you need to be patient and keep calling back to get someone. But once you get ahold of them they're very helpful. I've placed orders twice with them in the past two weeks for parts for both a CVA Hawken Pistol and a CVA Kentucky Pistol, and received my parts within mere days of my ordering them. I received exactly what I ordered and the prices were quite reasonable.

I don't know what kind of "bad reputation" you're heard about them, but in my own meager experience, it's both inaccurate and undeserved. I would recommend that you give them another try.

As Thumperdude says, the bp supplier Deer Creek Products in Waldron, IN does not have a web site and indeed still in business. The Deer Creek Products you found on the internet in Florida is a completely unrelated company that indeed is a scam outfit, and they are indeed out of business. Do not confuse the two - Deer Creek Products in Waldron, IN is a fine company run by very hard working and customer friendly people. They are a pleasure to do business with.

I stand corrected. Thanks, can anyone give me the phone numberor adress. I would like to find out about the pistol 44/20.
Thanks mykeal and Thumper.

HI
If my research is correct, your XXX3 doesn seem right.
Could it be that an x was double stamped by mistake.

Please see this ref for a breakdopwn of Itlian proof marks.

https://store.bluebookinc.com/Info/PDF/POWDER/MBPProofmarks.pdf

If it was XX3, than it was made in 1972, but if this PDF is correct, there isnt another choice that comes close.

Does the gun have a P R stamped on it, with the P over-lapping the R?

Cheers.
DanL

DanL,

OP stated his serial number was "Serial # xxx3 or 4". Serial number is not the same as the date code.
