As I sit in my dry home watching the coastguard lift people from rooftops one
at a time i question why city/state leaders did not provide bus evacuation
of the poor to northern areas prior to the storm on a voluntary basis.

We now have 34 million people in this country who live in poverty for them
leaving there homes in a no go issue, however it would appear to me it would
have been safer/cheaper to move them before the event.

Tell me where I'm wrong.

My heart goes out to all the stranded folks there, I believe I am watching the same footage you are. My wife and I discussed this same matter last night. You can be poor for several reasons, but what I dont understand is: You live in a part of the country that these storms can happen during a specific season. Why in the hell, poor or not, do you not have a bug out plan? Either ****, or public shelters, or something. I live in tornado alley, my family has a plan in case of a disaster, any disaster, we are not wealthy, we make ends meet, but we have a plan.

Rescue these people, help them, treat their injuries, that is the human thing to do. I just still, cant understand living in an area that the under threat from a specific disaster, and not having a evac plan.

Free buses WERE provided to take anyone and everyone to a shelter in NO. You're looking at folks who decided to ride it out regardless. I'm sorry, but this is their fault and their problem.

I did not know that, however now pilots and many people face injury to rescue them.

also this storm really did shock alot of people.

I say that because when it left FL it was a depression.

cheaper to move them before the event

Rescuing the folks from their rooftops is not the most expensive part of this. One big expense is rebuilding the luxury homes, casinos, and hotels that are built on barrier islands and other hurricane magnets. We will all pay a lot for that, through taxes, national debt, and insurance premiums.

Who aint the smartest? Well, that would be us, shelling out big bucks for rebuilding bigger, better, more luxurious digs for the really big moochers. And probably replacing a few yachts, too.

Regards.

kbr80 i guess i should run for them hills then huh? :p

I saw your thread being attacked....no comment.

well okay i will comment. people need to get some common sense.... :barf:

hey but KBR80 its a FACT. i think LA is one of the lowest when it comes to people with income under $8,000 a year (49th ranked,MS is 50th) and also i think they are DEEP in the area of IQ's...remeber seeing a study on the smartest states.

so its just a fact :neener:
