Here in MA, aliens (including permanent resident aliens) may not obtain a license to possess a handgun or high capacity long gun if they live in MA (but they can if they live outside of MA - yes, really).

Comm2a (www.comm2a.org) filed a case challenging this and arguments were heard in federal court a couple of weeks ago, and we are now waiting for the court's decision. Most interestingly, the attorney for the Commonwealth of MA explained that "The People" does not include aliens and, as such, aliens in MA do not enjoy the protections of the 4th or 2nd amendments.
 
If the Founders had intended for constitutional rights to apply only to citizens. they would have said "citizens" and not "people." The Commonwealth Attorney's legal theory doesn't hold water.
