Rented both tonight at the range and the guy was nice enough to put red dots and co witness sights on them for me. I have to say i am pretty torn. Below is pro and con for each.

FCP: non adjustable stock but no issue for me. Mag release is hard to manipulate with your thumb but switching to left hand control may work with an index finger. Trigger is pretty decent for what it is. The trigger did have some travel and weight and definitely didn’t have a rifle trigger feel due to its shape and width. The compactness seems a little weird but it’s accurate and handles nicely. The rail is forward the receiver so not a lot of optic room to play with. Charging handle wasn’t bad, just took some getting used to.

Response: dot died so had to use flip up sights. Sights were adjusted so accuracy wasn’t that great. Lots of noise in the buffer tube when firing compared the the FCP. AR controls are simple. I did find it kind of hard to hold still when firing free hand. I only had 30min of rental for both so kinda rushed. The plastic receiver is weird to me and slightly a turn off if it would have a out of battery discharge. Trigger was a little weird for me but I don’t shoot AR’s much. Very long in shape, thin, short to almost no travel, hits the wall and breaks.

I feel like i am quicker with the FCP due to the smaller platform but I also didn’t get to put the Response through the paces due to sights on target at 50yards hitting 8-10” high and left. I do think for USPSA or plate shooting matches the Response may win due to quicker controls and easier reloads, but i was also shaky trying to hold it still.

I was hoping to have a decision made tonight but uh, no such luck.
