Apparently you shouldn't let a pound of AA#7 slip and land on your PACT digital scale- even if it's still in the carry case.

When I try and calibrate it I get an "error 1" When I put the 20 gram check weight on the scale reads 307.

Is there and combination of "buttons" to press or hold on startup that will reset the scale? If not it looks like a trip to the factory. Fortunately I thought it would be a good idea to get a RCBS 505 as a backup. Unfortunately I never acted on my brilliant idea.:uhoh:

Aah...Here it is...While "TEST" is indicated press every button except "CAL" at the same time and hold them for 4 seconds. Release them. Then proceed to "CAL" sequence. Use when ERR 1 or ERR 2 persists...There you go. Good luck and for heavens sake keep your scale off the floor so you won't be droppin' canisters on it...:D

I called PACT and described my situation- they said to send it back. I'm thinking perhaps physical damage?

Anyway, I was going downtown this am so sent it in- "2 to 3 weeks." I ordered a RCBS 505 as a backup, should be here heck of a lot sooner than that. Should be a good verification when my PACT gets back.

I also came across this procedure- you PACT owners might want to print it off and file it away- FWIW

1. Hold GRN/GRM and on/off buttons
2. While holding plug unit in.
3. Hold for 6 sec
4. Release all
5. Display reads --0-
6. Calibrate 2 times.

I'm not sure what this cures. Thanks for all your ideas.

My PACT went nuts once. I called the company with phone beside the scale and a tech walked me through a button-pushing ritual that got it going again. I have heard that they have a logic tree in their manual. You describe A, they tell you what to do. It results in B or C and they pick the branch of commands to go down. Repeat until it clears up or becomes obvious that it is broken and has to be sent in for physical repair.
A method for software control with a limited number of commands available from the few buttons.
