My father and I were looking through his gun safe tonight and we came across a small .32 ACP pistol he has in there.
The markings on the slide are "1914 Retolaza Eibar"
It has a 5 digit serial number.
It has smooth wood grips and a nice blued finish.
I did a Yahoo search (because I refuse to use Google) and I wasn't able to come up with much useful information on this pistol.
I was able to find that it was made by the Retolaza brothers in Spain, but that was about it.
Dad says he hasn't fired it much since he purchased it many years ago.
Does anyone have any information about this pistol?
Is it decent? Is it worth keeping, or should he try and sell it?
Can anyone come up with an approximate value?

Thanks in advance for the help.

These pistols are basic copies of the Browning 1903 pistol.
There were oodles and oodles of these pistols made by oodles and oodles of different manufacturers and subcontract shops located in the Basque Eibar region of Spain immediately before and immediately after the First World War.
Hundreds of thousands of these pistols were produced for the French forces.
The Italians and the Finns also contracted for these guns.

They don't have a great deal of collector value although there is a bit of interest in them on the market.
These pistols range from very well made to quite poor.

I don't have a great deal of information on Retolaza Hermanos other than they did continue production after WW1 which usually indicates the company made a relatively decent enough product that allowed them to stay in business after the conflict.
The 7.65/.32acp pistol was renamed the "Liberty" after the war.

Value in good to very good condition is about $125.00 retail.
Any spare magazines will add about $20.00 each to the value. HTH
