Taking a look at the Ruger 10/22 with some modifications, including the T100 Tech Sights and Volquartsen bolt hold and magazine release.

A few simple upgrades can make the 10/22 even more fun to shoot and help improve your accuracy as well.

Personally I don't know how I kept my sanity before putting in an extended mag release. I've got 2 10/22's and I've done it to both of them.

I have done the Tech Sights and Volquartsen target hammer and auto bolt release combo on a couple 10/22s. I don't find the extended mag release to be desirable or necessary, myself. But the factory trigger is horrible, and I do prefer to do something about that. The target hammer really clears that problem up. I do, however, suggest reusing the factory trigger return spring. The Volquartsen one is too weak, and doesn't provide a positive reset. A friend's rifle quit resetting at all after a while with one. Using the factory spring makes the trigger a little heavier, but I actually prefer it, as the target hammer makes it too light for a field type rifle IMO. I like it to be closer to a battle rifle trigger.

I went so far as to send my bull barrel 10-22 to them to have them cut a dove tail in so I could directly attach the front sight onto the barrel without the adaptor. Volquartsen is a top notch company with awesome customer service.

Love the Tech Sights on a 10/22. Other than adding a scope, I can't imagine a sight that would decrease acquisition time and improve accuracy any better.

I had SwampF0x do a trigger job for me. A 2lbs trigger makes it even better.

If your goal is to find an inexpensive way to practice with military style sights they are great for that. Very good for an Appleseed class. I am running the Tech Sights. If I had to do it over again and wanted a peep or ghost ring sight I'd also look the skinner sights. I think they look prettier.

Very cool guys, I'm glad you all like yours as well.

I haven't modified the trigger on that 10/22. I've considered it but never got around to it. Especially with the .22lr shortage I just haven't done much with .22's and the bulk packs, like that 550 I was shooting, having a better trigger won't do much for the groupings for me.

Here's to hoping the bulk packs start sticking on the shelves long enough for us to show and buy them at normal prices.

Upgrading one of my 1022 is my next project. I plan on using most of the stock parts before I go on a spending spree. I was debating on Tech Sights or just staying with a scope only.

Question: why would you add Tech Sights and install something like Clark's Deluxe Hammer and Trigger replacement set for a Liberty Training Rifle, as I did, only to feed it with awful bulk ammo out of a milk box?

How can you be that much of a spendthrift after your investment and personal expectations!?

Matt, if you'll note my post 2 above yours you'll see that's why I haven't done the trigger. I shoot mostly cheap bulk packed ammo.

The techsights are a huge improvement over the factory sights all the way around.

Bulk pack ammo shooting or not.

I found that the Remington 550 round packs of yellow jackets are actually pretty decent in that 10/22. Much better than any of the winchester offerings in it.

The federal bulk packs are mid way between them.

Right now there is the flip side and you have to shoot whatever you can get your hands on.

When I did my appleseed I used CCI minimags IIRC. Could have been Stingers, I honestly don't recall which it was a couple years ago.
