Well so far I have a bunch of parts lying around my living room for this project. It's actually gonna be my first 10/22! :D

Parts consist of:
Stainless 10/22 reciever
Richard's Microfit Wildcat stock
Green Mountain 20" stainless fluted barrel
Swift AO Stainless Scope
Burris Zee rings
VQ Edge Ex
VQ Trigger

In a couple weeks I'm gonna get a load of sandpaper, oil, etc. and start finishing the stock. I'm also gonna try to do a couple of the DIY mods. I'm getting a lot of the resources from www.rimfirecentral.com Those guys over there are true fanatics like the guys on ar15.com

Who said anything about building assault weapons here, Mannlicher?

This is not an assault weapon, it is a plinker, and a small game rifle.

Really, there's no need to characterize the 10/22, and the configurations discussed above, as assault weapons, unless you consider rabbits, paper targets, and steel poppers as enemy soldiers of some sort. That's being a bit liberal with the description, don't you think?

For example, this is David Tubb and his Sportsmans Team Challenge 10/22. While this man could probably beat the pants off any other shooter when using nothing more than a Chipmunk rifle, he's taken the humble Ruger 10/22 to the winner's circle at least 7 times. Anybody gonna begrudge him the opportunity to build a world-class target gun out of a lowly 10/22?

I don't know how something, say, with a Turner Barracuda stock, becomes an assault rifle, either:

How about a yellow "assault rifle"?

Started out as a rusted piece of junk rifle I got for $35.
Stock is a Fajen.
Barrel is a Volsq graphite and stainless.
Scope is a Leupold Vari-X III 3.5-10x40 Tactical.
Mount is a one piece Leupold.
Mag release is Volsq.
Action and trigger parts are all factory that have been worked over by an excellent local smith who does a lot of 10/22 work.
I'm happy. :)

Longbow-
Yep! It was sold to me by an old guy who lived in a swamp and had used it for years to shoot turtles and fish to eat. The exterior of the barrel was so badly pitted with rust it looked like somebody had taken a hammer and punch to it.
