So, I went into the gun store with some recent Christmas money & gift cards with the intention of treating myself to a new revolver. I was fairly sure I wanted a Smith & Wesson 686 plus in 3" they had in stock for $710 new but wanted to look around a bit before making the purchase. There was my mistake!
There were several guns marked down and one in particular that caught my eye was the Ruger GP100 3" 10mm Wiley Clapp edition marked down to only $599 new. I don't have any 10mm handguns but have always been intrigued by that caliber and this seems like a great deal.
So, that brings me to my questions!
#1 - Is the GP100 10mm a steal at that price that I need to jump on even if it means jumping into a new caliber?
#2 - How would the recoil in a 3" 10mm revolver compare to the 3" 686 357? I'm not super recoil sensitive, but appreciate the ability to shoot 357, 38, and 38 +p in the 686. 40S&W isn't recommended in the GP100 and I don't own any guns in that caliber anyway, so it would pretty much be 10mm only in the GP100.
Thanks!
