I've never seen a revolver with rails before. At least, not until I got a newer Smith and Wesson catalog. Is this a rare thing? Or are there others like it?

It's a limited-production performance center item. I would've thought they'd make their "tactical .357" on a 7-shot L-Frame with a shorter barrel, but I guess they wanted to put the rail way out on the end like that. *shrug*

The only problem would be holsters. It'd be hard to find a holster for that odd barrel profile, muchless for the gun with the light mounted. Heck, only a couple places are making holsters for 1911s with lights on them...

They've made big-boomer revolvers, like the .500, with sling mounts... what's next, a bi-pod?

well... after handling the 500, i can certainly appreciate it having sling mounts. the thing weighs what a remington mountain rifle does, i'm sure. getting a holster for one that is functional and comfortable would be difficult.

A revolver with a rail is like a mint 1968 mustang towing a trailer. If it works for you, great! Not my taste though.
