Picked up some new friends today:

Top to bottom, that's a S&W 625 Performance Center (used, but excellent shape), S&W 64 (used), and the cute little Kimber K6 I've had my eye on for a while (new, night sights).

Already put about 80 rounds through the Kimber. It shoots really well, and I'm impressed with the engineering and attention to detail.

The 64 and 625 both have 4" barrels. The photo makes it seem otherwise; don't be fooled. That wacky grip on the 625 may have to go-- haven't decided yet. I have a nice rubbery one on a 325 that I might swap out with.

I've been hankering for the Kimber for months, but couldn't get past the ~$900 price. Today, they were in the mid-700s, so I took that as my cue.

I love my 1911s, but the older I get, the more I appreciate revolvers.

i think there are more "used guns for sale" in prescott arizona than anywhere else in the world. i'm glad i'm only twenty miles from j&g sales!

nice looking trio. when can we expect a range report (hint, hint).

Waaaaaitaminnit... how’d you know they came from J&G? You been followin’ me? ;)

I plan on doing some comparison shooting on Saturday- 625 vs 325, and Kimber vs 640. I’ll let you know!

Edit to add... 20 miles... Wilhoit? Chino?

Howdy neighbor! I work in Wickenburg, so I drive past you every day. Small world.
i'm jealous you get to drive white spar road twice a day.

i check out j&g sales about once a month just to drool over their selection. haven't pulled the trigger there yet, but you never know.

see ya, neighbor!

I guess that depends on what tickles your fancy. When I make my rounds of some of the local gun shops and pawn shops, all I find are glocks (similar Tonka toys) and Rugers. Pre 1990 S&Ws seem scarce as hens teeth. Only get to J&G a couple of times a year on my way home from the doctor.

I’m not too sure about those stocks on the 625, but otherwise, real nice.

Nice revolver trifecta! The S&W Model 625 PC looks a lot better with the Pachmayrs on it.

I'll second that. They also have a good selection of reloading supplies. Nice to have rifles out in racks where you can pick them up and look them over.

Their shape didn't go well with my hands, and were poorly fitted (edges protruding above the backstrap), so they've been replaced with some Pachmeyrs I had lying around.
Dear god, thank oyu. I don't know what S&W is thinking with that grip. the Pachs look much nicer.

I put a set of those on my SP101 and really like them.

Thanks, but I’m well acquainted with PV Guns, Only 3 blocks from my house as the crow flies. Loaded with new & used Glocks and Rugers, but older S&Ws are pretty scarce or duplicates of what I already have.

if you want an old used s&w try j&g sales, or high country guns on az89 across from safeway.

Man I wish I had a J&G with used Smitgs near me... my used Smith finds are very few and far between...

AZAndy, how do you like the grips that are on your S&W Model 64? Do they handle well for you?
They fit me quite well, and are plenty "grippy" enough. My hands are medium-sized, and they're narrow enough to be comfy. I don't know what kind they are-- Uncle Mike's maybe?

I love my 1911s, but the older I get, the more I appreciate revolvers.

I've loved my revolvers since the days when my back didn't hurt and my eyes didn't need any extra help.
However, I also find that the older I get the more I appreciate them. They are elegant machines from a bygone era, when form and function were synonymous, and no one was pretending to be part of a swat team.
My SIG may hold more bullets and be just as reliable(in my experience) but I can't bring myself to love it as much as my revolvers.
