I consider ricochets completely different then bounce backs.
I have three experiences with bounce backs in my life.
1. Buddy in high school shot a steel bridge beam with a .243 at about 25 yards.
Jacket frag lodged in his left eye and blinded him for life.
2. Another HS friend shot a peice of railroad rail with a 30-06 AP round at about 25 yards.
The steel penetrator bounced straight back, missed his head by maybe 2", and went clear through the rear finder of his 51 Ford sideways!
3. A few years ago, I shot a .45 Colt 255 grain Cowboy Action load into a railroad tie backstop at about 15 yards.
Bullet bounced back and tore the heel stack off my good pair of cowboy boots!
It almost knocked me down.
The best eye protection would have done no good had it hit me in the head!!
