My range “bag” has shrunk considerably but everything I really need fits in the panniers or backpack. I neglected to bring tools though and sadly had a screw in the trigger group back out on me again which prevents me from moving the selector to “safe”. Irritating.

but I got a couple water crossings in on the way to/from the range without dumping all my gear in the creek so that’s fun. And all my guns were still zeroed.

how do you guys ride to the range?

I go off-road in my Mercedes-Benz C-Class. I have "custom" briefcases my old lady and I make for my pistols. Pistols in the back seat, and my rifles generally are in the trunk with some old shirts wrapped over them. I take two ammo boxes, one for ammo ( duh), and the other has all the tools and medical equipment I need.

Taliv, your loadout is much larger than I ever tried. I haven't owned a 2-wheeler in quite some time, and I only had two off-road specific motorcycles. I had also been known to take my 4-cylinder 750s slowly on trails to get where I needed to be. Kind of like back in the day when people would drive station wagons and sedans off road. Just don't go through holes or mud, and don't high center.

Still, 95% of my off-road riding to shoot was not on my smooth tire street bikes.

Anyway, I'd carry one pistol and several boxes of ammo in my off road tool/canteen belt when I went 2-wheeling to go shoot targets of opportunity. If not shooting a pistol I'd strap a rifle to my back, but my starting point was always away from "civilization".

I have about a 100 - 200 ft walk from car to bench, usually takes 2 trips. I have a range backpack that I keep all of my stuff: glasses, hearing protection (foam and muffs), spotting scope, ammo bag (an old military waxed cotton velcro bag, some tools, small Otis cleaning kit), and a pistol or two. I hand carry a separate bag of targets and my heavy sandbag.

I used to have a private range that I could park right next to. That was nice, but no more.

I walk. That's to say I have a handgun range on the property. As for rifles, I'm a land share owner in shooting association which is drive of an hour plus or so dependent on traffic.

I grab whatever I want to shoot & walk out the door, lots of room to shoot. Up to 250 yards anyway

taliv: your transport appears to be from a sci-fi movie.

I wasn't sure which end had the proton propulsion unit, or the 40 mm grenade launchers used in "Aliens".
Your bike could "...nuke the site from orbit. The only way to be sure". I like your small weapon for "close encounters".

2015 Honda Odyssey. The most uncool, but most practical vehicle in the world, prove me wrong. It gets me to the range 5 miles from my house, all paved roads. Just yesterday went to the range to test groups for my 308 AR-10. Threw my M&P 22 Compact in as an afterthought for plinking. Finished with the groups, pulled out my 22 Compact. Dammit, no magazine. That's OK, I'll just load manually and practice draws. Dammit, magazine safety. DOH! It was time to call it a day.

I saddle up my trusty jeep wrangler for most trips. I quit riding mo-cycles several years ago. Old bones don't care for it anymore. Sometimes when the wife wants to go with me I transfer all my junk, uh, essential shooting accessories, into our suv which is easier for her to get in and out of than the jeep.

The indoor range (handgun) I take the bike or the truck. The bike has a trunk and plenty of saddle bag room.

The outdoor range I always take the truck because I drag along 4 or 5 long guns, cleaning gear and basic tools in addition to targets, spotting scope and sometimes shooting gear like a jacket. All of which is in no way going to fit in or on the bike. Guess if all I took was an AR maybe but that's about it. :)

Due to a totally rimracked body these days it's the trusty Jeep. imagejpeg_1.jpg
It's amazing how much crap you can get in there. Often it takes more time to haul it to the bench and back to the Jeep than I spend shooting.:p

I ride to the range in a Ford Super Duty! :) I can back right up to the firing line and use the truck bed as my table.
