I have had one of these ordered for a very long time. DSA was not exactly the quickest or most accurate in their delivery predictions, but the wait was worth it.
This is their replica of the original G1, and it is flawless.
It appears, as far as I can tell (and DSA claims), to be built on all brand new parts (no surplus). I have seen plenty of original FALs and the quality of the parts is as good, or I might even say better, than most I've seen. Every piece is absolutely beautiful. The finish is perfect, DSA puts a Duracoat finish on this one. It came packaged very well for transport with the wood wrapped up in padded paper and the forend wrapped in padded plastic where the bipod legs fold in. It arrived at my dealer Thursday with one mag and the long flash hider uninstalled since it was simply too long to fit in the case with the FH attached. The FH just twist-snaps in place.
It came with an original manual for the LAR from FN, no DSA manual at all, but it's all the same except for the happy switch setting (that is there, it is just markings only though).
It was very cold here in Ft Worth yesterday so I was at the range for only a short time. Long enough to get a basic zero and gas settings.
It fired South African 7.62, Pakistani 7.62, Lithuanian GGG .308 and some Prvi Partisan .308. I had Wolf with me but I couldn't bring myself to shoot that in this rifle.
They all fired fairly close to the same POI but like I say it was just too dang cold to stay long and I didn't even go retrieve my target when I was done.
I have no doubt it will be plenty accurate once I have time to play with it.
I shot one mag of each plus a few zeroing so I ran right at 100 rounds through it with no problems of any kind.
This is my last firearm purchase for the foreseeable future and it's a great place to stop. My political paranoia has kicked up some and I am only going to buy ammo and reloading components when I get disposable gun income going forward.
This is just another example of the fine work DSA offers and I can recommend their rifles without hesitation. Just don't be in a hurry if you are after the Collectors editions, they tend to make them in small batches here and there.
