I am looking for a new target rifle, I am wanting one with peep sights. I don't plan to enter any competitions or hunt with it, just shoot at the range on weekends. The longest range in my area is 100 yards, so I don't see much point in spending the money on one of the smaller caliber centerfires. Savage makes a version of the Mark I and the Mark II with a heavy varmint barrel and Williams peep sights, MSRP is about $400. But it is only available in .22 and I already have a .22 with a scope.

I saw a CZ 452 varmint in .17 hmr today for about $450. It had a very nice walnut stock and a fat forend. Williams makes a version of the FP sights for it, but I would probably spend over $100 by the time I bought the front and rear sights.

Any suggestions?

I put a Lyman peep sight on my 452 Lux. I regularly shoot it out to 200 yards.

Did you have to cut the stock to put that on? Were you able to use the factory front sight blade?

I have a 452 Trainer and have been looking for the right peep.

Milsurp of your choice with a Mojo Clicksight (i have one on my 24/47 and its awesome) or an SKS with a Techsite.

Yes I had to remove some wood to mount the peep site. I used a file and it took less then five minutes.

I use the factory site blade with excellent results.

A poor man's way to put a peep site on a CZ (Lux, trainer, or Full stock) is to use one of the Brooks peep site blades. They are cheap and install quickly and easily. They are really good for plinking, but for target work I prefer the Lyman.

Stop by Rimfirecentral.com and do a search on peep sites. There is a ton of information there.

Do the .17HMR and .22LR 452s have the same receivers? None of the sights that I have found only mention fitting the CZ 452 - no mention of caliber. I've never really paid much attention in the stores.

How about some long ranged Swedes?

One a target model, or another an infantry model with a Lyman receiver sight, with peep of course, added long after importation to the USA? Your choice.... of 6.5 x 55 mm.
