I am looking at the Tikka lite stainless and Kimber Montana in 300wsm. Other suggestions from those that have similar rifles are appreciated. I have the Kimber in 308 and numerous Rem 700's but no experience with the Tikka/sako.

My #1 recommendation would be the Winchester EW for that round. I have a Kimber in 308. They make fine rifles and I like the 308 very much, but the 300 WSM is built on a different action size and the balance and handling on them is just not "right". They are a bit on the light side for a 300 WSM as well.
I have one of the Classic Winchesters in that round set in one of the B&C stocks. I ended up with the same gun as the EW except without the fluted barrel.

Winchester shows the EW in 300 WSM at 7 lbs even.

Mine is the one of the stainless Classics. It weighs 8 lbs 2 oz with a Burris Scope in Talley lightweight mounts. You should be able to keep the EW just under 8 lbs ready to hunt if you go with some lightweight mounts and a Leupold scope. The EW uses an aluminum trigger guard and fluted barrel to keep the weight down a bit compared to my rifle.

Have a WSM in a Savage 11 that is a great gun and even better value, shoots under 1/2 MOA with a mild dose of 4350 and 130gr SGKs but my Tikka is my baby, that is the tightest shooting rifle I have ever owned by a healthy margin, and I am not talking about one magic load I mean it shoots every kind of factory I have tried well under an inch, and handloads in 129-140gr are either cutting cloverleafs of going through the same hole. To date I have only found one bullet that I have yet to get sub 1" groups with in the Tikka, there is no other 6lbs rifle out there that can hang with it PERIOD, and yes I will bet money on that.
In addition to crazy accuracy, Tikka has THE slickest action in the industry, like Teflon on oiled black ice kinna slick, too slick actually when I have my earplugs in I am OCD and have to watch it chamber a round because I literally cannot feel it with the bolt. Their trigger is as good as any in the business, user adjustable to 2lbs no creap and breaks as crisp as frozen glass, like an accutrigger without the annoying inner blade. Tikka also makes on of the best synthetic stocks out there, a very tough fiber/matrix composite (which they use for dang near everything) instead of cheap injection molded plastic, that combined with the remarkable light weight makes the T3 stainless the best rough country rifle I could ever imagine (just replace the factory rings). The T3 is one of the very very few rifles I give an A+ rating, there is no more accurate or ergonomic rifle anywhere at any price, on my chart the only two catagories it looses are value where the cheap Savage 110s still rule because of their very low price/outstanding performance, and appearance where beautiful walnut framed Kimbers, Coopers, Sakos and Winchester 70s make any and all plastic rifles look like children's toys.
Oh BTW if you do get a T3 in 300 WSM invest in an aftermarket recoil pad, the factory pad on the T3 SUCKS, not at all an issue on my sissy kicking 6.5x55 but a 300 mag in a 6lbs rifle with a crappy pad is as good a recipe as any for a bruised shoulder.
