I had planned on making this a rimfire rendezvous weekend, but unfortunately my daughter decided to come with me and bring 6 of her friends. They are 12 years old and a handful! They are great kids but full of energy.

I see realized that I would not have a ton of time for shooting So after a morning of swimming and then getting them settled into a movie this afternoon I grab a couple of my rimfire revolvers and headed out for some plinking.

I brought my Ruger Wrangler and my 1956 K22. I realize these are too completely different kinds of guns , but I shoot them quite a bit in the desert so I thought it would be fun to compare them side-by-side.

I had 2 different types of ammunition: Winchester wildcat, and Remington golden bullets. The winchesters were the worst shooting of the bunch, especially out of the ruger! It was basically more of a pattern than group. The Remington on the other hand shot well which made me very happy because I have a ton of it.

The K22 especially like The Remington and gave me the best group of the day. Single action, at about 15 yds, and you could cover it with a nickel.

After shooting at paper, I spent the rest of the afternoon just relaxing and plinking at targets in the desert. I brought my steel rimfire target, and the poor, canejo flaco, took a shellacking from the K22.

All and all it was a great afternoon and a ton of fun. It's nice to just sit on the tailgate, load up some rimfire, and have a relaxing afternoon. image0.jpeg image1.jpeg image2.jpeg image3.jpeg

I definitely beat the heat! It is about 15 degrees hotter today than it was on Saturday. It is actually getting to my favorite time of the year with 80/90's in the day and 60's at night.

It is cooling back down this weekend and I still have some .22 rifles I would like to shoot....🤔🤔🤔 I should probably work on the house though.

I am still amazed by the accuracy of my K22, so much so that I am thinking about selling a couple of other .22 handguns and then go on the hunt for a second one for my son.

I am pretty sure I have a sickness, but it only seems to effect my bank account so I guess I will survive.

Excellent desert day ECVMatt. 99% of my shooting/plinking is in the high desert. There simply isn't a better place.
I'll be taking my .22lr out with me soon enough. Like you say, sittin' on the tailgate and have at it. Bliss.
