I just purchased a .22 conversion kit for my 1911 as a new play toy. I understand that dry firing any rimfire is not good. I want to protect my kit by putting a snap cap in the magazine first before loading any live rounds so the firing pin will be protected when it goes "click" after the magazine is empty. I looked around but haven't come up with much for .22 snap caps. I normally use triple K as my preference but I can't find them online at Brownell's. Does anyone have a suggestion as to where I can find some good snap caps for my .22 kit?

Just use a spent case.

There really aren't any good snap caps for rimfire. Just use a spent case. Worked for me for 15 years or so.

Almost all of the 'snap caps' made for .22 say not to actually use them to snap on; only for function testing, etc.

Like the man said, I save a bunch of fired cases to use. You can take a piece of dowel rod that'll just fit into the case, shape a round point and glue it in a case, that works nicely to ease loading them. If you do this, I'd suggest using a marker to color the cases red or something; just to be on the safe side.
