Rising prices of Ruger Police and Service Six why?

They all have their uses...

My Speed Six and GP-100 'Canadian'.

I find the Speed Six just a bit better for carry and the GP a bit better for the field. But either one will do to ride the river with.

I don't think people really appreciated the Rugers for what they were when they were in production. Alot of folks, me included, kind of thought of them as the second tier guns.

I was wrong and, I think alot of others feel that way. I've tried to fix that error and now own a Police Service Six (ex NYPD gun in .38) and a .357 Magnum Speed Six. I'm ok, but would happily add to the pile.

I also viewed them as 2nd Tier guns and never honestly considered buying any Ruger revolver until the GP's came out. The poor trigger on the old SP in 22 only served to cement my impressions then. I've changed, but never attempted to acquire one of them as I had Colt's and Smith's that filled that void. I did eventually pick up a Mark II 22 and that was prior to getting my first GP.

I think they're fine guns and I'm glad the prices are still rising.

Is mine worth more because I saved the box?

No. Only the Ruger Revolvers I have have appreciated. :)

Seriously any fine revolver or gun for that matter will bring a better price with the original box. Well made guns are going to appreciate. Guns like the Classic S&W, Colt and of course Ruger. Lower end guns will depreciate, like the Jennings and Bruco to name a few.

I have two security six guns. They seem to be well made revolvers. I did just buy a GP-100 off gunbroker so am selling one of my security six guns to help pay for it. Here is my listing. I think my shooting buddy wants to buy it so will most likely pull the listing tonight. Several have it on their watch list but no bidders so far. I would rather my buddy buy it. Its a lot easier than the money transfer and then getting it shipped.
